Ambassador Jackson meets with Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, UK State Minister for the Commonwealth and the United Nations

Ambassador Jackson meets with Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, UK State Minister for the Commonwealth and the United Nations 

Her Excellency Rhoda M. Jackson and His Excellency Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, State Minister for the Commonwealth and the United Nations of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, engaged in a bilateral exchange during the Minister’s official visit to the Commonwealth Small States Office in Geneva.

The discussion dealt with a range of issues including the recent passage of Hurricane Irma through the Caribbean region; respective candidatures as well as the forthcoming UK Chairmanship of the Commonwealth and preparations for the 2018 Commonwealth Summit in London.

Also discussed was The Bahamas’ commendable progress since its initial tenancy at the CSSO and the need to replicate this positive trajectory with other Small States, while seeking to increase the visibility of the Commonwealth at the United Nations.
