Ambassador Jackson participates in Universal Periodic Review of Haiti

On Monday 7 November 2016, H.E. Rhoda M. Jackson, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of The Bahamas in Geneva, participated in the Universal Periodic Review of the sister Caribbean country of Haiti.  The delegation of Haiti to the Review was led by H.E. Mr. Camille Edouard Jr., Minister of Justice and Public Security of Haiti.  The Bahamas took the opportunity to congratulate Haiti on strides made in the promotion and protection of human rights, notwithstanding the significant challenges faced as a result of successive natural disasters, epidemics and related humanitarian emergencies, including as a result of the recent passage of Hurricane Matthew.  The Bahamas also made constructive recommendations to the country on areas for improvement in human rights protection including in the fields of trafficking in persons, nationality and civil registration as well as international cooperation.
