The Bahamas Congratulates the Republic of the Philippines on the occasion of Its National Day

The Government and People of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas extend congratulations to the Government and People of the Republic of the Philippines on the occasion of its National Day; the day on which the Philippines declared its Independence from Spain in 1898, marking what is now known as ‘Araw ng Kasarinlan’ which translates to ‘Day of Freedom’.

The Philippines, like The Bahamas, is an archipelagic country and we have mutually shared experiences on building resilience in this respect.

The Bahamas and the Philippines share a relationship that dates back to as early as 1976, one which is based on cordiality and mutual respect. The depth of this relationship is made visible by the large Filipino community within The Bahamas. Hence, today, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas celebrates the commemoration of the ‘Day of Freedom’ with the People and Government of the Republic of the Philippines.
