Public Message of Condolence to The Republic of Indonesia

The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas was saddened to learn of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the island of Lombok, east of Bali, Indonesia, this past Sunday morning. We regret the tremendous loss of life and widespread structural damage that occurred as a result of this natural disaster.

The Government has received no reports of Bahamian citizens who were affected by this event.  However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will contact the Indonesian authorities to ascertain if any Bahamians were amongst those impacted.

As Bali is a popular tourist destination, the Ministry also seeks the assistance of the general public in providing information about family or friends visiting Bali at dgmfa@bahamas.gov.bs and mofabahamas@bahamas.gov.bs.

The Government and people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas offer sincere condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia and all those affected by this natural disaster, with the hope for a return to normalcy as soon as possible.
