Scholarship for Research (Graduate) Students – BAHAMAS

This scholarship is open to university graduates from The Bahamas. The Scholarship covers an 18 month – 2 year period of graduate research at Japanese universities. The study area must be in the same field as the applicant studied or is now studying, or a related field. Recipients may enter Master’s or Ph.D. program after passing the entrance examination given by the university concerned. The scholarship includes a half-year of Japanese language training for those who need Japanese language training. Applicants must be less than 35 years of age (born on or after April 2, 1982), and must be university graduates with a G.P.A. at least 2.8

June 9- 10, 2016- Examinations and Interviews for shortlisted candidates
June, 2016.. Notification of shortlisted candidates
July – August 31, 2016… Shortlisted candidates are required to contact directly the Japanese universities of his/her choice in order to obtain acceptance letters from at least three
universities (preferably national universities).
Candidates are not allowed to contact Japanese
universities beyond September 1.

January, 2017… Notification of results
April or October 2017… Departure for Japan

1. Monthly Stipend
-143,000 Yen – for Research Student Scholarship
-144,000 Yen- for students enrolled in a Master’s program
-145,000 Yen – for students enrolled in a doctoral program

3. Exempted from school fees for entrance examination, matriculation and tuition
