Bahamas consulate consul Braynen attends International Women’s day Awards event

MIAMI, Florida — Lynnith Braynen, Consul in The Bahamas Consulate General, Miami, was a guest of the Leticia L. Bigott, Commerce and Embassy Relations Manager at Baptist Health International, for the 13th Annual International Women’s Day Awards Program on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida.

Five outstanding women leaders were honored by the World Trade Center Miami, for their significant contributions to advancing international trade, investment and business in Florida.

The honorees were Marilyn DeVoe, Vice President , Miami Hub, American Airlines; Pamela Fuertes-Berti, Vice President, International Economic Development, The Beacon Council; Debra Owens, Director, Government Affairs and International Relations; Hilda Rodriguez, President, Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association; and Sally Yearwood, Executive Director, Caribbean-Central American Action.

Delivering the keynote address was Dr. Susan Amat, CEO and founder of Venture Hive, an entrepreneurship education company that assists corporations, governments, universities, and incubator/accelerator programs. Dr. Amat spoke on the topic, “Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Women in The Americas “

Since 1975, International Women’s Day has assumed a global dimension for women in developed and developing countries. This annual celebration by the United Nations serves to focus attention on the issues facing women around the world, and highlights their achievements.

In 2014, the World Trade Center Miami began to sponsor this annual event in order to recognize Florida women who have inspired others to make major accomplishments in International Business.
