High Commission of The Bahamas hosts Carol Service, Grosvenor Chapel Mayfair, London, United Kingdom

London, United Kingdom: “On 8^th December 2018 at 4:00 pm, The High Commission of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas hosted its Christmas Carol Service at the Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair, London.  The event was attended by the High Commissioner, His Excellency Ellison E. Greenslade QPM and Mrs. Kimberley Greenslade; the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, the Rt. Hon. Baroness Patricia Scotland, QC; members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Court of St. James’s; CEO of the Bahamas Maritime Authority, Captain Dwain Hutcheson; members of the Clergy; members of the Bahamian Diaspora in the United Kingdom and Europe; and friends of The Bahamas. Members of the Bahamian Diaspora, from all across the United Kingdom, attended in large numbers and made the evening very special and enjoyable.

The Carol Service, which was officiated by the Reverend Dr Richard Fermer, Priest-in-Charge, proceeded beautifully and showcased Bahamian talent by way of musicians and performers including:  Mr. Wilfred T. Adderley II, Mr. Franz Hepburn, Ms. Chelsea Blues, Mr. Willis Neat, and Mr. Desmond Sturrup. Invited musicians included violin and cello duo, Jada and Steven Marsh (brother and sister), who added a Caribbean Flavour. The musical performances were rounded out by a Saxophone and Guitar performance by Mr Norman Wilmore and Mr Daniel Kemshell of the United Kingdom.

A number of scriptures and special poems, by Bahamian poets, were eloquently read by: Duchess Williams Alonga, President of Bahamas Host UK; Mr. Toure’ Holder; Mrs. Bernadette Roberts; Mr. Alex Nuttall; Ms. Simran Poole; Mrs. Barbara Campbell and Mrs Paulet Brown-Wilsher.

During the service a collection was taken up for “the Commonwealth Girls Education Fund (CGEF) a registered charity founded in 1967 to help girls in Commonwealth countries to complete their education.

Immediately following the carol service there was a reception for the esteemed guests.”
