Minister Henfield attends 22nd COFCOR Meeting in Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada — The Honourable Darren Henfield, MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs led a delegation to the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Foreign and Community Relations COFCOR.

The meeting which took place on the 13 and 14 of May, was attended by Foreign Ministers of CARICOM, the Secretary General of CARICOM Irwin Larocque, Officials of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States OECS, as well as guest representatives from the European region.

COFCOR guides the relationship between CARICOM, international organizations and third states to promote matters relating to foreign policy, regional development and friendly and mutually beneficial relations among states.

Minister Henfield, served as Chair of COFCOR organization last year giving his final charge at the opening ceremony on Monday, 13 May. He is succeeded by The Honourable Peter David, Minister of Foreign Affairs for Grenada.

The delegation which also included H.E. Reuben Rahming, High Commissioner to CARICOM and Mr. Mike Guy, Foreign Service Officer also held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Ms. Helen McEntee, T.D., Minister of European Affairs from the Republic of Ireland, to discuss matters of mutual interest and to lobby for support of The Bahamas’ candidacy for re-election to the Council of the International Maritime Organization IMO.
