The National Insurance Board is pleased to announce several new changes arising from the completion of Phase II of its new Insurance Administration System.
Credit Card Payments
All major credit cards are accepted for contribution payments.
Direct Deposit of short term benefits
With immediate effect all short term benefits (maternity, sickness, unemployment and injury benefits) will be paid by direct deposit to claimants bank accounts in New Providence, Grand Bahama and those Family Islands with banking facilities. This method of payment follows the current practice for pension and other long term benefits. To give effect to this change, banking information will be required for new claims and claims already in payment.
Smart Card Required for NIB Services
All claimants will be required to register and obtain a new Smart Card in order to submit claims and receive benefit payments. Persons who have not yet done so are encouraged to visit one of our Registration Centres to complete their registration and obtain the new Smart Card before April 30, 2016. The public is reminded that the yellow paper cards will expire on April 30, 2016.
Online NIB Account
Insured persons are now able to activate their personal NIB account by obtaining a personal identification number (PIN) from NIB. To secure a PIN, persons are asked to supply an email address at the time of registration or by visiting our offices to provide an email address. Through the online accounts, registrants will be able to track the status of claims, view contributions, and receive notifications, news and other alerts from NIB.
NIB appreciates the cooperation by the public throughout the transition period over the past few weeks.
