The Bahamas and China Reaffirm Commitments to Bilateral Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. Fred Mitchell met with representatives of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning for discussions on bilateral cooperation and regional and international matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, Chinese Ambassador H.E Yan Jiarong congratulated Minister Mitchell on his recent electoral victory and reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with The Bahamas. Discussions also touched on upcoming commemorative activities for the 30th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between The Bahamas and China, cooperation under the China-CELAC framework, developments in Haiti and Cuba, and China’s bid to host the Secretariat of the BBNJ Agreement.
