The 13th Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministerial Meeting (13 WAMM)

The 13th meeting of Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers (13 WAMM) will occur in The Bahamas during the week beginning on August 21, 2023. The main focus of discussions during this meeting will be to hasten the advancement of gender equality and women’s empowerment for sustainable development. This involves (but is not limited to) increasing the number of women in leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, encouraging more political engagement at all levels, expanding economic and entrepreneurial opportunities for women, and making further progress towards eliminating gender-based violence.

The WAMM provides a platform for sharing experiences and achievements, setting new targets and strategies, and forming and strengthening partnerships.
The Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting, which has been held triennially since 1985, brings together Ministers, Senior Government Officials, civil society, private sector, and partner agencies to discuss and agree upon practical strategies and solutions for gender disparities.

The 13 WAMM will also build on recommendations from the Commonwealth Women’s Forum, which was held during the Kigali Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in June 2022.
