Farewell Reception for HE Fonseca Costa Resident Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil
On Wednesday, 5th September, 2018 the Government of the Bahamas hosted a Farewell Reception for His Excellency Carlos Eduardo Sette Câmara da Fonseca Costa, Resident Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel. Ambassador Câmara da Fonseca Costa came to The Bahamas in March 2014 to take up post. During his tenure he played an intricate role in strengthening the relationship between The Bahamas and Brazil. The Hon. Brent Symonette, (Actg) Minister of Foreign Affairs, bid the Ambassador farewell on his four year tour of duty in his address noting that the physical presence of Brazil in the form of a Embassy and Resident Ambassador has contributed tremendously to the development and enhancement of the relationship between both countries. Minister Symonette spoke of the leadership role Brazil plays in the multilateral arena with organisations such as OAS and the UN, and the engagement within CARICOM on a number of pressing issues. He ended his remarks by extending best wishes to the Ambassador hoping that his tenure in The Bahamas leaves him with fond memories of the friendliness and hospitality of The Bahamian people. Ambassador Carlos Eduardo Sette Câmara da Fonseca Costa in a brief speech, thank the Government and People for the opportunity to serve in The Bahamas. He stated, this last posting would end a 40 plus diplomatic career serving in many different countries and missions around the world. He ended on a great note in The Bahamas.
