The Bahamas Enters into Diplomatic Agreement with IFRC
On 20 September, 2022, The Bahamas Government and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) entered into an agreement granting the IFRC diplomatic status and privileges within The Bahamas.
The Agreement provides for those who represent the IFRC in times of disaster and otherwise to have diplomatic privileges while carrying out their work in The Bahamas.
At the signing for the event were, The Honourable Frederick Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service, Terez Curry, Director General of the local Red Cross, and Jagan Chapagian, Director General of the IFRC.
At the event, Mr. Mitchell stated , “The signing of this agreement today facilitates operational arrangements between The Bahamas and IFRC, we, therefore, welcome the signing and look forward to fostering deeper relations and future collaboration.”
Both Parties expressed their enthusiasm in working more closely together in the months and years to come.
