Parliamentary Secretary Strachan attends Summit of the Americas 30-Year Commemoration

Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Jamahl Strachan, accompanied by Foreign Service Officer Rolanda Davis, participated in the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Summits of the Americas, reaffirming The Bahamas’ ongoing commitment to the Summit process and its pivotal role in fostering political dialogue and cooperation across the Western Hemisphere.
Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic (MIREX), this significant event brought together key stakeholders from across the Americas, including former U.S. President Bill Clinton, under whose administration the inaugural Summit was held in 1994, along with former heads of state, foreign ministers, and senior government officials. The event marked three decades of collaboration among the nations of the Americas, offering a crucial platform for addressing regional challenges, affirming shared values, and pursuing coordinated solutions to political and economic issues.
As part of The Bahamas’ continued engagement with the Summit process, Parliamentary Secretary Strachan and Ms. Davis participated in high-level discussions that reflected on the achievements of the past Summits while examining the evolving role of the Summits in addressing emerging global challenges.
