The Bahamas Welcomes HCCH Secretary General

Nassau, 16 December 2024 — Mr. Christophe André Bernasconi, Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH), has commenced his inaugural official visit to The Bahamas. Mr. Bernasconi was accompanied by Mr. Ignacio Goicoechea, HCCH Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the visit, Secretary General Bernasconi paid a courtesy call on Ms. Keva Bain, Deputy Director General. Representatives from the Human Rights and Human Security Bureau were also present, contributing to a productive discussion on the application of Hague Conventions currently in force in The Bahamas.

The Secretary-General is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with Senator the Honourable Ryan Pinder, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs; The Hon. Mr. Justice Ian R. Winder, Chief Justice, in conjunction with Hague Network Judges and other principal government officials.
