The Governor General Signs The Foreign Affairs and Foreign Service Acts
Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas. 2nd May 2025. Governor-General the Most Honourable Dame Cynthia Pratt gave her assent to the Foreign Affairs Act of 2024 and the Foreign Service Act of 2024 in a brief ceremony on Thursday, 1st May at Government House.

These landmark pieces of legislation will restructure and modernize the foreign service. In his remarks, Foreign Minister the Hon. Frederick A. Mitchell highlighted how the acts will strengthen the foreign service, allowing it to serve the Bahamian public well into the future.
Government Leaders, members of the Foreign Diplomatic Corps in The Bahamas and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the signing.
