The Bahamas Reaffirms Commitment to Global Arms Control at CSP-11

29th August, 2025, Geneva, SwitzerlandThe Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) regulates the global trade in conventional arms to prevent illicit transfers and unregulated flows that fuel conflict, crime, and terrorism.  The Commonwealth of The Bahamas reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in the global arms trade during the ATT Eleventh Conference of States Parties (CSP-11).

The inter-ministerial delegation highlighted the nation’s recent progress in meeting its treaty reporting obligations, including the submission of its Initial Report as well as its First Annual Report, while pledging to achieve full compliance through regular, consistent and timely reporting.

As a Small Island Developing State, the importance of international technical assistance, particularly through exploring opportunities within the ATT Voluntary Trust Fund, to strengthen national reporting systems and ensure sustainable implementation was underscored.

It was affirmed that, “For The Bahamas, reporting is not a formality, but a demonstration of our determination to prevent diversion and misuse of conventional arms,”

In conclusion, the Bahamian delegation highlighted the unwavering support for the Arms Trade Treaty and the enduring commitment to upholding global peace and security.
