NASSAU New Providence, The Bahamas. 27th October –   On 23 October 2025, within the framework of Diplomatic Week 2025, senior consular officers and diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials from the Department of Immigration participated in an in-depth training session on Counterfeit Travel Document Detection, conducted by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Canada’s integrated law enforcement agency responsible for border management, customs, and immigration.

The initiative, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Human Rights and Human Security Bureau, sought to strengthen the technical capacity of Bahamian officers in identifying fraudulent travel and identification documents. Given the rapid advancement of technology and the increasing sophistication of counterfeit methods, this training was both timely and essential.

As the first line of defence in safeguarding national security, enhancing officers’ ability to detect fraudulent documentation plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of The Bahamas’ immigration and consular systems.

It also underscores the continued support of His Excellency Mark Berman, High Commissioner of Canada to The Bahamas, and the High Commission of Canada based in Jamaica.
