The Bahamas Signs Four Memoranda of Understanding at ICAN

On the second day of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Air Services Negotiation event (ICAN 2025). The Bahamas delegation continued discussions and negotiations with member countries for expanded lift between The Bahamas and like-minded countries.
 
During the event, The Bahamas signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Republic of Paraguay, Sint Maarten and the Argentine Republic, completing the first step of negotiations with these countries to allow for the execution of an Air Services Agreement (ASA). Informal meetings were also held with partner countries of the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, and the Republic of Haiti to discuss areas of future mutual collaboration in the aviation space.

ICAO is responsible for establishing global aviation standards and facilitating international air transport agreements. The ICAN event, launched in 2008, aims to assist countries in negotiating bilateral and multilateral air service agreements, enhancing the global aviation network. For 2025, the delegation is represented by staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Bahamas and the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
