PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS ON THE DEATH AND BURIAL OF RETIRED ASSISTANT CHIEF PASSPORT OFFICER, IVAN P.J. DEVEAUX.

Today, 1st August 2026, we at the Bahamas Foreign Affairs Ministry continue to mourn as Ivan PJ. Deveaux, former Assistant Chief Passport Officer, is being buried.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Florence, the entire family, loved ones, and colleagues.

He served with distinction at our Grand Bahama office. Ivan Deveaux was among the outstanding public servants who pioneered passport access for residents in the Northern Bahamas.

Sensitive to the public’s needs, he was dedicated, competent, caring, accommodating, and equally stern guided by national policies and practices.

His high mark of integrity was, in part, recognized by his appointment as a Justice of the Peace and his National Distinguished Service Medal award.

Beyond his years of work at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, he was a devoted member of the Anglican faith and a committed executive of the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry offers thanks for his service to nation-building.
