Press Statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Death of a Bahamian national in Haiti.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can today, 10th August 2026, confirm the death of a Bahamian national in Port-de-Paix, Haiti.

According to the preliminary reports, the death is related to a boating accident that occurred on 9th August 2026, in waters just off the coast of Port-de-Paix in northwestern Haiti. The body was discovered with several others.

Representatives at the Bahamas Embassy in Haiti are in contact with family members of the deceased Bahamian national and Haitian law enforcement.

Condolences are extended to the family members and loved ones.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry and, by extension, the Bahamas Embassy in Haiti, will continue to monitor the circumstances and give updates accordingly.
