Prime Minister Davis Calls for Stronger International Partnerships at Diplomatic Week 2026
NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS — Prime Minister the Honourable Philip E. Davis, KC, MP, officially opened Diplomatic Week 2026 during his keynote address on 19 October 2026 at Margaritaville Resort in Nassau, The Bahamas, calling for stronger international cooperation, deeper economic partnerships and greater opportunities for The Bahamas and small island developing states.
Delivering the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony, the Prime Minister reaffirmed The Bahamas’ commitment to a rules-based international order, emphasising the important role smaller nations play in shaping global conversations and advancing shared solutions.
“We want to be a trusted partner to the world, and a place where nations come to meet and make peace,” the Prime Minister stated, highlighting The Bahamas’ commitment to international cooperation and the valuable perspective it brings to global discussions.
Turning to the theme of Diplomatic Week 2026, “Orange, Blue and Green Economies: New Frontiers for Trade and Economic Development,” the Prime Minister highlighted opportunities to drive trade, investment and sustainable growth across the creative industries, ocean resources, agriculture and clean energy.
He encouraged international partners, investors and business leaders to deepen collaboration across these sectors, translating diplomatic relationships into tangible economic opportunities for Bahamian businesses and communities.
The Prime Minister also addressed shared challenges facing small island developing states, including climate resilience and access to development finance, while reaffirming The Bahamas’ commitment to multilateralism and its candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2032–2033 term.
“The frontiers are mapped. Orange, blue and green. The partners are here. What remains is the choice to act,” he stated.
Diplomatic Week 2026 brings together members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, international partners and business leaders to strengthen relationships, advance economic diplomacy and explore new opportunities for trade, investment and sustainable development.
