WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY CONFIRMS PARTNERSHIP IN THE LEAD-UP TO LAUNCH OF OAS – BAHAMAS SCHOLARSHIP
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the lead-up to the April 18th launch of the OAS – Government of The Bahamas Scholarship, Ms. Kim Osborne, OAS Executive Secretary for Integral Development, and Dr. Jack Thomas, President of Western Illinois University, held a signing ceremony on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the OAS Administration Building in Washington, D.C., to concretize the agreement of Western Illinois University to partner with the OAS and The Bahamas to offer scholarship opportunities for Bahamians.
 
Representing The Bahamas, Second Secretary Mikhail Bullard thanked Western Illinois University for its willingness to partner and underscored that the trilateral cooperation the partnership demonstrated could be a model going forward for OAS Member States.
 
The Bahamas and the OAS will launch the first cycle of the OAS – Government of The Bahamas Scholarship next week which will offer up to 25 scholarships to Bahamians with the option to study from among nine different partner institutions. The scholarship will merge scholarship funding from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the OAS with negotiated tuition concessions from partnering institutions.
