Applying for a Home Owners Resident Card

Ideally, non-Bahamians who own property on any of the islands of The Bahamas should be able to enjoy hassle-free travel through the Bahamas. This, however, is not automatic, and must be applied for through the Department of Immigration.

Any non-Bahamian who owns property on any of the islands should be eligible.

1. Prepare letter of request addressed to the Director of Immigration.
2. Attach supporting documents to letter.
3. Submit to the Department of Immigration.

• A letter of request addressed to the Director of Immigration.
• Form IIA (available at the Department of Immigration locations listed below).

• Confirmation of Bahamian property ownership (Deed of Conveyance, as recorded at the Registrar General’s Department).
• Documentary proof of payment of current real property tax.
• A copy of the bio-data page of the applicant’s passport.
• 2 passport-sized identical colour photographs of the applicant, with the applicant’s name printed on the reverse side.
• Original copy of Medical Certificate (no more than 30 days old) and Police certificate (no more than six months old).

Once the actual application has been accurately and completely submitted, Applicants should contact the Inquiries Unit at (242) 502-0550 or email us at immigration@bahamas.gov.bs within a 3 to 4 week period for an update of the progress of the application.

There is no deadline for this service.

• There is a non-refundable processing fee of BS$100.00 per applicant.
• Once approved, applicants must pay an additional BS$500.00 for issuance of the Home Owner’s Resident Card.
