Advisory for Bahamian Residents and Visitors in the United Kingdom
4th August, 2024
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes note, with concern, of the recent spate of protests and riots in major cities and towns in the United Kingdom in the wake of several knife attacks and the deaths of three young girls in Southport, Merseyside, on Monday, 29 July 2024.
The Ministry also notes the uptick in attacks perpetrated against persons of certain racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Bahamians who reside in cities and towns in the United Kingdom impacted by attacks, violence, and public disorder are urged to take all necessary precautions to remain safe. This includes monitoring and following the instructions of local authorities.
The Bahamas government prioritizes the safety and security of all Bahamians in the United Kingdom, including Bahamian students and visitors. The Ministry closely monitors the situation and has been in direct contact with the Bahamas High Commission, London, which stands ready to provide emergency consular assistance. The Ministry has also been in contact with the British High Commission here in Nassau.
The Foreign Ministry asks that all Bahamians register here.
