The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, by extension, the Government of The Bahamas continues to monitor the circumstances related to an earthquake of estimated magnitude 3.9 on the Richter scale with an epicenter located approximately 5 km northeast of Golden Spring, St. Andrews that Jamaica experienced at 11:45 am today, 28th June 2026.

We remain in constant contact with our Consul General in Jamaica, Mrs. Alveta Knight, who has been conducting wellness checks on the Bahamian diaspora in Jamaica from the onset.
