AMBASSADOR NEWRY DELIVERS DISTINGUISHED LECTURE

NEWRY ADDRESSING UB SYMPOSIUM (1)

16 January

NASSAU, Bahamas – His Excellency Dr. Eugene Newry, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States, delivered a Distinguished Lecture on “The Dream of ’67,” during which he described the journey from Majority Rule to modern times as an interesting period in Bahamian history. His presentation was included in the University of The Bahamas’ 50th Anniversary of Majority Rule Symposium held January 12-13, 2017. From an academic perspective, Dr. Newry traced the milestones in Bahamian history that propelled the freedom movement that led to Majority Rule in The Bahamas on January 10, 1967 — one of the nation’s most pivotal and important moments. He is pictured addressing the symposium, and in the second photo Mrs. Francoise Torchon Newry, his wife, and his Aide de Camp John Delancey are pictured in the audience listening to his presentation.
