PRESS RELEASE: Ambassador Winston Pinnock Elevated To Vice Chairman of The Food and Agriculture Organization

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to announce that The Bahamas’ Ambassador to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Winston Pinnock has been elevated to Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of that International Body.
On 7 April 2022, Pinnock was announced as the nation’s Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the Food and Agriculture Organization. He has served in various capacities prior to his appointment namely, as an entrepreneur focused on wholesale food distribution locally and internationally.
His Excellency Pinnock in a personal statement on his new role stated, “I am grateful to Almighty God and secondly to our Prime Minister The Honourable. Phillip E. Davis for having the confidence in me by giving me such a crucial assignment in dealing with the food security issues of our Country at this critical time.
I am also thankful to my colleagues from Latin America and the Caribbean region for supporting my nomination to this post, I am committed to using this platform to continue the advocacy of our Prime Minister on the issue of climate change which poses an existential threat to our country The Bahamas.”
Foreign Minister The Honourable Frederick Mitchell stated that he was pleased to hear of Pinnock’s elevation within the FAO and stated that the organization could not have made a better choice. He went on to state that he looks forward to seeing the results of the rich contribution that he is sure Ambassador Pinnock will make on the international body.
Ambassador Pinnock’s role will be to assist the Chairman of the FAO with executive functions inclusive of chairing high-level meetings and meeting with diplomats.
