The Bahamas Consulate in Atlanta Celebrates Caribbean Heritage Month

 

29 JUNE 2029:

Deputy Consul General Tyson McKenzie, represented The Bahamas as the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport celebrated Caribbean Heritage Month. Deputy McKenzie was joined by the newly appointed District Manager for The Bahamas Tourism Office in Atlanta, Ms. Sheema Poiter, and Mr. Nicholas Wisdom, also from The Bahamas Tourism Office in Atlanta.

In his remarks, Deputy McKenzie stated, “Let us celebrate 50 years of sovereignty, 50 years of economic freedom, 50 years of untethered culture, 50 years of spiritual enlightenment and 50 years of Caribbean togetherness.” He further shared that, “For the next 50 years let us bring together our economies for the betterment of the Caribbean region and that we should reflect on how our economy evolved over the decades and the influences of economies such as Atlanta in our minds.”

June is Caribbean American Heritage Month — a celebration recognizing the contributions and influence of Caribbean Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest and most efficient airport in the world, was honored to host its fifth annual Caribbean-American Heritage Month celebration. The program honors the rich heritage and significant contributions of the Caribbean community in the Atlanta area, namely in the areas of arts, business, journalism, technology, government, religion, the military, sports and more.

Also attending and bringing remarks was Senator Randy Rolle, who brought brief remarks on behalf of the Government of The Bahamas.
