Bahamian awarded 2016/17 Chevening Scholarship
The British High Commission Kingston is pleased to announce that a Bahamian has been awarded 2016-2017 Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK.
 
The 2016-17 Chevening scholar is Dr Sean Knowles, Senior House Officer at the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre.
 
Sean was selected based on his track record of leadership, solid academic achievements and their passion for assisting Bahamas’ growth and development.
 
British High Commissioner to Jamaica, David Fitton said “I am happy that we have been able to award another scholarship to the Bahamas this year. The UK is committed to its relationship with The Bahamas. I know Sean will have a wonderful time in the UK and will benefit significantly from this experience.”

Dr. Sean L. Knowles is a graduate of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Jamaica. He currently works in the Department of Psychiatry at Sandiland’s Rehabilitation Centre in Nassau. Dr Knowles will pursue studies in the Immunology of Infectious Diseases at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His goal is to be an infectious disease and mental health expert in The Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean. In his spare time, Sean enjoys traveling, weight-lifting, jogging, socializing, and watching movies with his family.
