Bahamian Officials Meet with UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs Officials

Last week, a United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) team met with Foreign Ministry officials to discuss ongoing project support for strengthening public sector national capacities for Innovation, Digital Government Transformation and Changing Mindsets. The meeting highlighted the critical importance of people-to-people connections in changing mindsets on digitalisation. The Foreign Ministry is working with both UNDESA and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on digitalization.

Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who shared their unique challenges and opportunities for digitalization, included Ms. Jerusa Ali, Director General; Ambassador P. Nicholas Symonette, Chief Passport Officer; Mr. Terry Archer, Chief of Protocol; Ms. Charmaine Williams, head of the Trade and Economics Bureau along with Mr. Jaden Swain and Ms. Johnique Pinder and Ms. Danielle Smith acting head of the Multilateral and Political Affairs Bureau.

UN representatives in attendance include Mr. Devon Rowe, Executive Director of the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration (CARICAD); Mr. Dale Alexander, Chief Caribbean Knowledge Management Centre, ECLAC Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean; Mrs. Cristina A. Rodriguez-Acosta, Inter-Regional Adviser, Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government,  Ms. Aneesah Abdullah, Country Coordinator and Ms. Te’Neill Francis, United Nations Volunteer.
