Ambassador Taran Mackey Meets with Bahrain’s Minister of Health

Ambassador of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to Bahrain, HE Taran Mackey met with Dr. Jalila Jawad, Bahrain’s esteemed Minister of Health. The meeting highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to advancing primary health care, which forms the cornerstone of its healthcare system.

Ambassador Mackey and Minister Jawad discussed Bahrain’s innovative approaches, including a robust adolescent health program and preventative healthcare services to enhance community well-being. She also showcased the nation’s strides in medical innovation, such as its involvement in the Genome Project, cutting-edge oncology and cardiovascular centers, and the use of robotics in healthcare. Additionally, Dr. Jawad emphasized Bahrain’s strong allied healthcare training institutions, which contribute to the country’s comprehensive healthcare workforce.

They also discussed the similarities between Bahrain and The Bahamas as archipelagic nations, fostering a mutual understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities they face in delivering healthcare across islands.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision that this dialogue could begin a stronger partnership between the Bahamas and Bahrain in healthcare collaboration, benefiting both nations.
