At the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), The Bahamas and Seychelles formally established diplomatic relations, signaling a strengthened commitment to international cooperation.

Foreign Minister the Hon Frederick A Mitchell finalized the accord with the Hon Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism for Seychelles, solidifying a vital bond between the two island nations.

United by their shared status as Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and a profound concern for ocean health, The Bahamas and Seychelles will prioritize combined action on climate change mitigation, responsible tourism development, and marine protection. By joining forces, The Bahamas and Seychelles strengthen the collective voice of island nations calling for increased global action on climate change.

This diplomatic agreement solidifies their shared determination to champion the needs of SIDS and secure a resilient future for all island communities.
