Commissioning Ceremony Held for Seven New Ambassadors
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to announce that seven Ambassadors were commissioned Wednesday, August 3rd in the presence of the Deputy to the Governor General the Honourable Cynthia Pratt, the Prime Minister the Honourable Philip Davis Q.C., and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service The Honourable Fred Mitchell.
Taking their oath at the Commissioning Ceremony were:
H.E. Sebastian Bastian – Ambassador to Central America
H.E. Chris Brown – Ambassador-at-Large for Sports
H.E. Joseph Curry – Ambassador to The Holy See
H.E. Rick Fox – Ambassador-At-Large for Sports
H.E. Dr. Dexter Johnson – Ambassador to The Federative Republic of Brazil
H.E. Taran Mackey – Ambassador to the State of Kuwait
H.E. William Wong -Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco
The Prime Minister, in underscoring the need to fulfil the commitment of the Government to expand The Bahamas’ footprint across the world, charged the Ambassadors to include the diaspora and citizens of The Bahamas who travel abroad in the execution of their work when reaching out to those in distress. He added that investment and climate change as priority areas for the country ought to remain central for us at the international table.
In their response, the Ambassadors pledged to uphold their duties: promoting The Bahamas as an attractive destination for trade and investment while seizing opportunities for educational, cultural, and sporting exchanges.
