Diplomatic Week 2023 Day 2 Recap

Day two of Diplomatic Week began with a breakfast meeting between Foreign Minister the Hon. Frederick A. Mitchell, MP, and the Honorary Consular Corps, followed by the official opening ceremony where Prime Minister the Hon. Philip E.B. Davis gave the keynote address, outlining the country’s foreign policy objectives for the upcoming year.

After a brief break, the day resumed with a panel discussion on The Bahamas’ IMO candidature involving Transportation Minister The Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis and IMO Ambassador H.E. Anthony Rolle. The Panel was moderated by UK Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Marche Mackey.

 

 

The following session was a reflection on the Emminent Persons’ Group (EPG) visit to Haiti featuring Captain Godfrey Rolle, Chargé d’Affaires of the Bahamas Embassy in Haiti. CARICOM Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Colin Granderson who participated in the EPG visit and Mr. William Exantus, Chargé d’Affaires of the Haitian Embassy in Nassau participated in the discussion. The panel was narrated by Senior Policy Advisor Nickeva Eve-Benjamin.

 

 

The day concluded with a commissioning ceremony for new Ambassadors to The Bahamas, presided over by Governor General the Most Honourable Cynthia Pratt.
