Director General Ali Attends CELAC Conference

Director General Jerusa Ali and Foreign Service Officer Rolanda Davis represented The Bahamas at the 50th Meeting of the National Coordinators of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in Mexico City, Mexico from 14th – 15th February 2024.
During the meeting, Coordinators convened to address several critical issues to the region’s development agenda. Key topics included consolidating multilateralism, strengthening regional cooperation in global fora, food security, access to financing, climate change, peace and security, education, science and technology and innovation, health, energy transition, information and communication technologies (ICT) and space cooperation.
The meeting also served as preparation for the upcoming 8th Summit of CELAC, scheduled to take place on March 1st, 2024, in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Bahamas extends sincere appreciation to Mexico and the pro tempore presidency of CELAC, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, for graciously hosting this meeting.
Established in 2011, CELAC is a regional grouping of 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its primary objective is to foster regional integration, solidarity, and collaboration among the diverse nations of the diverse nations of the region.
