Director General Ali, Deputy Director General Bain of the Ministry of foreign affairs and members of the Foreign Service met with Aneesah Abdullah, the United Nations Country Coordination Officer for The Bahamas. Preparations for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit 2023 and The road to the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR75) were at the heart of the discussions.

The SDG Summit will occur during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level week in September 2023, focusing on Development Goals with high-level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions leading up to 2030.

The summit, convened by the President of the General Assembly, will mark the halfway point to the deadline for achieving the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. It will respond to the impact of multiple and interlocking crises facing the world and is expected to reignite a sense of hope, optimism, and enthusiasm for the 2030 Agenda

This year (2023), we will join the rest of the world in commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
