Please note that this portal is for online renewal of ePassports only. All applicants with lost, stolen and damaged passports, and persons requesting a name change, must apply in person at one of our Passport Offices or Overseas Missions.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST

  1. Application Processing Fees:
    • $25.00 – 15 years old
    • $50.00 – 15 ½ – 17 years old

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Fees can be paid by credit or debit card.

If you receive an error message when making payment please contact the Passport Office at telephone no: 1 (242) 397 2388 or email us at: epassportoffice@bahamas.gov.bs. If by email, please state in the subject line your first and last name and in the body of the text provide your NIB #, the passport number of your latest passport, and the application ID you were given when you submitted the application.

There will be no refunds once payment has been made.

 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RENEW A PASSPORT

The standard processing time for an ePassport renewal is seven (7) working days. Applicants can track the status of their application online by using the application ID and names to obtain the record.

EXPEDITE PROCESSING FEES AND TIME:

The following additional processing fees shall be payable in respect of an application for an ordinary passport issued with biometric data and features where —

  1. The applicant requires the passport to be issued not later than noon on the same day that the application is made, three hundred and fifty dollars ($350.00);
  2. The applicant requires the passport to be issued within forty-eight hours of making the application, three hundred dollars ($300.00); or
  3. The applicant’s passport is damaged or has been reported lost or stolen and the applicant requires the passport to be issued —
    1. Not later than noon on the same day that the application is made, three hundred and seventy-five dollars ($375.00);
    2. Within forty-eight hours of making the application, three hundred and twenty-five dollars ($325.00) or
    3. Within ten days of making the application, seventy-five dollars ($75.00).

Please Note:

Persons in the Family Islands can collect the passport within 3 – 4 working days. Persons overseas can collect the passport within 5 – 7 working days from the selected overseas office.

Upon completion of your online application, you will receive an email with your electronic receipt. You may have to check your junk mail folder.

Please be advised that the Passport Office reserves the right to request from other government agencies or the applicant, any additional information deemed necessary for the completion of the online application.

REQUIREMENTS:

TO RENEW A MINOR’S PASSPORT YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS FOR UPLOADING WHERE APPLICABLE

1. Passport Photograph Specifications:

  • Photograph should be no more than six (6) months old at the time of the application
  • Photograph should be 2×2 inches at 600 dpi
  • Photograph should be in color with a plain white or an off-white background
  • No Selfies
  • Must have a neutral facial expression, not smiling and mouth must be closed
  • Makeup should be neutral and jewelry modest
  • Photograph must have a full face view; the applicant must be facing the camera directly
  • Hairline and ears must be visible and not covered
  • Covering of the head is prohibited unless for medical or religious purposes and a formal written request is presented and, approved by the Passport Office. Request for approval should be sent via email to: epassportoffice@bahamas.gov.bs
  • The applicant’s clothing should be in color with his/her shoulders covered
  • The applicant’s clothing must not bear any form of military or civil servant badges or ornaments.
  • Applicants may request Photo labs to provide a digital copy of photograph using one of the following options: e-mail, cd or usb.

Please note that all passport photographs are subject to the approval of the Passport Office.

5. Mother’s valid passport datapage or Legal Guardian’s valid passport datapage, or father’s valid passport datapage and Marriage Certificate (if married to the mother).

6. Original Court Order for proof of Legal Guardianship (where applicable)

7. Where applicable, a current Letter from Social Services (issued within 6 months); the representative of the state acting on behalf of the minor should upload a valid Bahamian/ Government issued passport data page or driver’s license

To renew a Minor’s ePassport you will need the following:

Photograph

Minor’s existing passport datapage

Original Birth Certificate/Registered Birth Certificate

Original Adoption Certificate (where applicable)

Mother’s valid passport datapage or Legal Guardian’s valid passport datapage, or father’s valid passport datapage and Marriage Certificate (if married to the mother).

Original Court Order for proof of Legal Guardianship

Where applicable, a current Letter from Social Services (issued within 6 months); the representative of the state acting on behalf of the minor should upload a valid Bahamian/ Government issued passport data page or driver’s license

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. All persons applying on behalf of a minor must complete the following sections:
    • Declaration by Parent/Legal Guardian/Representative of The State Section of the Application Form
    • Application Declaration Section
  2. All Foreign-originating documents must be accompanied by an Apostille, and/or legalized translation from the country of origin. This applies to all applications.

COLLECTION OF PASSPORT:

  1. All minors are required to be present.
  2. Minors 15 years or older will be fingerprinted.
  3. All Parents/Legal Guardian who made the application on behalf of the minor must be present. There will be no collections by proxy.
  4. When collecting the minor’s passport please bring the existing/expired passport along with the Electronic Application Confirmation and/or Auxiliary Receipt.
  5. The originals of all documents uploaded must be presented for verification by the Issuing Officer i.e. (Birth Certificate, Adoption Certificate or Court Order must be submitted).
