H.E. Cedric Scott Presents Credentials to Emperor Naruhito of Japan

On 20th September 2023, H.E. Cedric Alexander Scott, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to Japan formally presented his credentials to His Majesty NARUHITO, the Emperor of Japan.  Prior to the official ceremony with the Emperor, Ambassador Scott met with Mr. Suzuki SHUN’ICHI, the Minister of Finance of Japan who represented the Japanese Government at the official presentation ceremony.  On 15th September 2023 in advance of the presentation ceremony with the Emperor, Ambassador Scott met with Mr. Masataka OKANO, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.  During their meeting, the Ambassador and the Vice Minister remarked on the similarities between the two archipelagic states and noted areas for future collaboration going forward.

During Ambassador Scott’s two-week official visit to Japan, he also had the opportunity to meet with other senior officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan responsible for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, as well as with officials of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT), and the Tokyo National Museum.  The Ambassador also met with officials of the Bahamas Maritime Office in Tokyo and officials of the Japanese Travel Agency H.I.S. Group.  Meetings were also held with representatives of QD Japan, and Mitsui & Co., two companies involved with alternative fuel and clean energy options.  The Delegation also met with officials of SAGA University and toured the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) Laboratory managed by the University on Kumejima Island.  They were sensitized to the possibilities of deep ocean sea water technology to produce clean energy and toured several local businesses on the island that were successfully harnessing the technology.

During the visit to Japan Ambassador Scott was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Yuki Scott.  Ms. Keva Bain Deputy Director General within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied Ambassador Scott to all official events hosted by the Japanese Government.
