LA Consulate Staff Celebrates The First Anniversary of its Opening

On Saturday 8th February 2025, Consul General Joy A. Newbold and staff of The Bahamas Consulate General Los Angeles, along with the staff of the Ministry of Tourism, Los Angeles, and members of the Bahamian diaspora were honoured to worship at the Los Angeles University Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  This event was held in commemoration of the 1st anniversary of the official opening of The Bahamas’ first diplomatic mission on the West Coast of the United States.

The church service, led by Pastor Lawrence S. Dorsey, Sr. and Associate Pastor Tammie Lindsay, was a momentous occasion, bringing together esteemed members of the Los Angeles Consular Corps, Bahamian diaspora, and friends of The Bahamas in a shared spirit of faith, community, and service.  Our group was warmly received and tremendously blessed by an inspiring service and special consecration of the team and its work here in Los Angeles.

In her address, Consul General Newbold expressed deep gratitude for the church’s warm welcome and fellowship and reflected on the shared values of service, resilience, and unity between the church and the community. She stated that the rich history of the 116-year-old church and its Mission aligns with the values we cherish as Bahamians. She highlighted the Consulate General’s achievements over the past year, including strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties, engaging with the Bahamian community across our state twelve twelve-state jurisdiction, and providing vital consular services.

CG Newbold stated, “As we look toward the future, The Bahamas Consulate General Los Angeles remains committed to fostering strong partnerships while advancing the interests of The Bahamas, and serving the diaspora with excellence.”
