MEMORIAL SERVICE HELD FOR RAYMOND ROLLE & KENU ADDERLEY
20th April, 2022
Consul General Hon. Leroy F. Major and Vice Consul Sherry Johnson Deal attended the Memorial Service for Raymond Rolle and Kenu Adderley held at the University of New Haven in Connecticut on Tuesday, 16th April, 2022.
The Consul General brought words of condolences informing:
“Amid this tragedy and unspeakable loss, the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas was particularly pleased to have learned that both young men were well-known for their commitment to academic excellence, passionate in their pursuit of lofty aspirations, kindhearted towards others, well-celebrated amongst peers, and filled with a great sense of potential and purpose.
As we have discovered in life, no one can truly prepare for a loss; for it comes like a swift wind – often unannounced. Its sting can sometimes leave us numb wanting answers that are unfortunately left unexplained. However, we can take comfort in cherishing the memories of our loved ones. Always, allowing these memories to inspire us to live life with intentionality and purpose by maximizing the time given to us on this earth, positively impacting our spheres, and ultimately making a difference in the lives of others – just like Raymond and Kenu.
On behalf of the Hon. Philip Brave Davis, Prime Minister, the Hon. Frederick Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs & the Public Service, and the Government of The Bahamas, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, faculty, and students of the University of New Haven. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May God continue to strengthen and comfort you.”
Faculty and students also expressed condolences and relished fond memories shared with both students. University representatives expressing condolences were Sheahon Zenger, Ph.D., Director of Athletics and Recreation; Jean Nocito-Gobel, Ph.D., Professor of College and Engineering et al. Both alluded to the fact that both young men were ambitious, kind-hearted, helpful, and positive.
Both families were presented with bouquets.
In response to the remarks and condolences Rev. Heuter Rolle, Uncle of Raymond Rolle; and Paula Adderley, Mother of Kenu Adderley thanked the Bahamas Consulate General New York for their kind consular assistance and care, the University of New Haven for honoring these young men for their respective contributions and University impact and encouraged the students to live a life of purpose with the time that they have been given. They also alluded to the character of both young men Kenu as “helpful” and Raymond as “kind-hearted.”
A “go fund me” has been organized to help support both families at gofund.me/b09f68af
