Ministry Paid Courtesy Call by French Ambassador

On 13 March 2024, Her Excellency Aude de Amorim, Ambassador-Designate of France, Bastien Courtois Deputy Economic Counselor and Dominic Lefevre, Honoury Consul of France, paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Alfred M. Sears, MP, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Immigration along with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the dialogue centered on pressing global issues, including climate change, environmental matters, and ongoing developments in Haiti. Additionally, discussions explored avenues for collaboration between diplomatic academies and national universities on French language training, sustainability, oceanography, and ocean mapping.

Recognizing the shared maritime heritage of both nations, there was extensive discussion on the promotion of the blue economy and the identification of solutions to address critical issues affecting our oceans.

Minister Sears, on behalf of The Bahamas, reiterated the country’s commitment to climate adaption, mitigation and action, emphasizing initiatives led by Prime Minister Davis to place The Bahamas at the forefront of climate awareness. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment to collaboration between The Bahamas and France on various fronts bilaterally and multilaterally.
