MOFA Meets with Mexican and Central American Officials To Discuss Technical Cooperation

On Monday, 26th February 2024, representatives from the Office of the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas met virtually with the Directorate General of  Central America and the Caribbean, the Diplomatic Academy Matias Romero Institute, and the Embassy of Mexico to the Bahamas and the to discuss technical cooperation.

Paramount to the discussion was the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering deeper technical assistance cooperation, facilitating specialized training programs, and providing guidance for the further development of the Institute of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas.

The proposed MoU would be aimed at enhancing knowledge exchange, capacity building, and skills development, thereby bolstering the diplomatic capabilities of both countries. Through this strategic partnership, The Bahamas and Mexico will be poised to deepen their cooperation and shape a more prosperous future built on mutual respect, cooperation and partnership.

As 2024 marks the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between The Bahamas and Mexico, both Governments reflect on fifty years of shared history, milestones and accomplishments. With the opportunities that lie ahead in advancing our diplomatic engagement and cooperation, the potential for knowledge exchange, skills development, and capacity building through said MOU will serve to open new horizons for both countries.
