Our latest update on the Philadelphia homicide and the Bahamians arrested in The Dominican Republic

It has been circulated throughout social media platforms and widely on the Internet that a female residing in Philadelphia who became the tragic victim of a homicide was a Bahamian citizen.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Consul General in New York has made the relevant inquiries into this matter and the Philadelphia police have advised our Consul General that the alleged victim was not a Bahamian.

In a separate matter, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently became aware of a matter concerning Bahamian nationals who were arrested in the Dominican Republic. The Bahamas’ Honorary Consul to the Dominican Republic has been in contact with the local authorities there and is awaiting further details. An update on this matter will be given as soon as there is further information.
