The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration wishes to address reports circulating on social media regarding the missile fairing which was collected from the shores of Man-O-War Cay, Abaco on Monday 7th November, 2016.

The Government of the Bahamas, in a joint effort with the United States Embassy collected a dormant missile fairing that washed up on shore in Man-O-War Cay.

The Ministry wishes to convey that at no time were the residents of that settlement or any settlement in The Bahamas in danger of the missile detonating. The fairing was collected and properly disposed of in a secure manner.

United States Government experts together with representatives from the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were involved in removal of the fairing. The Ministry wishes to express its thanks to all involved in the seamless removal.
