For Immediate Release

16 October 2026

NASSAU, BAHAMAS –The Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration on 14th October 2026 officially announced the schedule and theme at the Ministry’s Goodman’s Bay Headquarters in Nassau, The Bahamas, for Diplomatic Week 2026, set to take place 18 – 22 October 2026. Hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and headquartered at the Margaritaville Resort in downtown Nassau, this year’s principal foreign affairs conference will operate under the theme: “Orange, Blue and Green Economies: New Frontiers for Trade and Economic Development”.

Now in its 14th year, Diplomatic Week will focus in 2026 on how trade, culture, agriculture and sustainability can play a greater role in The Bahamas’ foreign policy and international partnerships.

“This year’s focus speaks directly to The Bahamas’ identity and potential. Our ocean, our culture and our natural environment are central to who we are and to the opportunities ahead. Through diplomacy, we can turn these strengths into new opportunities for sustainable development and trade, strengthen investment ties and ensure that Bahamian businesses, people and ideas continue to find a place on the global stage,” said the Honourable Fred Mitchell MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

“Diplomatic Week gives us an important opportunity to bring our representatives, partners and stakeholders into one conversation about The Bahamas’ priorities on the world stage. It allows us to set out our foreign policy direction, strengthen collaboration and consider how diplomacy can deliver practical economic opportunities for the country in the year ahead,” said Mr. Kemie Jones, Deputy Director General for Foreign Affairs.

Throughout the week, the conference will feature high-level engagement from across government, including the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The programme will explore the Orange Economy through sessions on Bahamian culture, festivals, film and content creation; the Blue and Green Economies through discussions on ocean investment, climate diplomacy and sustainable projects; and trade through sessions on market opportunities, shipping and logistics, the national export strategy and fisheries.

Mr. Barry Griffin, Chairman of the Bahamas Trade Commission and Chair of Diplomatic Week, highlighted the strategic importance of the chosen theme. “Against the backdrop of developments at home and around the world, it is important that our foreign policy focuses on trade and the economies that underpin The Bahamas. This year’s programme will bring together government, the private sector and our international partners to explore how our Bahamian talent and investment can drive these economies, and how these sectors can shape our economic and foreign policy moving forward.”

Alongside formal panel discussions, Diplomatic Week will feature Bahamian cultural and exporter showcases, the Prime Minister’s Welcome Reception, a closing reception at John Watling’s Distillery, and a full-day excursion to Cat Island for delegates to experience the country’s Orange and Blue Economies first-hand.

The Honourable Jomo Campbell MP, Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources, emphasized the real-world impact these global conversations will have on local industries. “Our country is moving into a new era of its economic and foreign policy. We recognize that growing our blue and green economies can create new sources of income, strengthen food security, expand trade, and help all Bahamians build successful businesses,” said Minister Campbell. “Our ambition is to build productive, sustainable industries that create lasting opportunities for Bahamians, and I look forward to advancing the partnerships this week, that will help us achieve it.”

Diplomatic Week 2026 will provide a platform to translate dialogue into stronger partnerships, new commercial opportunities and practical outcomes for The Bahamas and its international partners.
