Press Statement From The Ministry of Foreign Affairs On World Marítime Day Celebrated On 24 September 2026

The Bahamas Foreign Affairs Ministry joined the international maritime community in observance of World Marítime Day on 24 September 2026.

Kimberly Lam, Head of the Ministry’s Marítime Bureau, notes that the Bahamas’ observance of the Day annually reaffirms its commitment to advancing maritime safety and security, environmental protection, effective governance, and the well-being of seafarers.

The Marítime Bureau used the occasion to pay tribute to the dedicated men and women at sea who continue to keep the global trade moving in the face of unpredictable and challenging circumstances.

This year’s theme is – “From Policy to Practice. Powering Marítime Excellence.”
