RAHMING CHAIRS CRULAC MEETING
NEW YORK — His Excellency Dr. Elliston Rahming (second from right), Ambassador and Permanent Representative of The Bahamas to the United Nations and the Organization of American States (OAS), in his capacity as Chairman of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States (GRULAC) for the month of May, chaired the Special Meeting on Thursday, May 12, 2016, that served as a platform for the following representatives to brief the Group on their respective candidatures: H.E. Ambassador Natalia Gherman, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, candidate for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations; Ms. Margot Wallström, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, on the candidature of Sweden to the United Nations Security Council for the term 2017-2018; and H.E. Ambassador Peter Thomson, Permanent Representative of Fiji to the United Nations, candidate for the position of President of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
