On Thursday, 21 July 2016, H.E. Dr. Elwood Donaldson formally presented to His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito, Letter of Credentials, formally accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (Non-Resident) for the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to Japan.

The Ambassador also presented the Letter of Recall of his predecessor Sir. Sidney Poitier. The ceremony was held in the Ceremonial Hall (Matsu-no-Ma) in the Imperial Palace. The Ambassador was accompanied to the ceremony by Mr. Freddie C. Tucker, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Head of the Americas Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.
