ON THE CIRCULATION OF A FALSE STATEMENT ATTRIBUTED TO THE DEPARTMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Department of Immigration advises the public that a recent statement being circulated on social media and reported by ZNS news about the offer of rewards by the department for information leading to the arrest of illegal migrants is patently false. It is not an announcement from the Department of Immigration or any government agency and should be ignored and not circulated.

Given the relatively high volume of disinformation on social media, the department asks that the public exercise caution and restraint when sharing suspicious and potentially harmful content on this medium.
